Islanders' two late strikes doom Lightning

UNIONDALE, N.Y. Michael Peca and Adrian Aucoin scored 2:46 apart late in the third period and Rick DiPietro made 29 saves in the New York Islanders' 3-0 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday.

Aucoin set up Peca's goal with 8:19 remaining and then knocked in a rebound of Alexei Yashin's shot at 14:27 to make it 3-0.

It was Tampa Bay's second loss in two days, having blown a three-goal lead Saturday at Boston. The Lightning are clinging to a one-point lead over Philadelphia atop the Eastern Conference, with each club having six games remaining.

Blackhawks 2, Coyotes 2

CHICAGO Mike Comrie's power-play goal midway through the second period lifted the Coyotes into the tie. Comrie poked the puck into a half-empty net after Chicago goalie Michael Leighton made a save on Paul Mara's shot from the slot. The rebound went to Dan Cleary, who fed a cross-ice pass to Comrie.

Penguins 4, Rangers 3, OT

PITTSBURGH Aleksey Morozov scored a power-play goal in overtime for the second consecutive game in a match marked by the ejection of Rangers captain Mark Messier.

Oilers 5, Sharks 2

SAN JOSE, Calif. Marc-Andre Bergeron scored two goals in the Oilers' fourth consecutive win.

The victory moved the Oilers within one point of St. Louis for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Jason Smith scored a short-handed goal to break a 2-2 tie in the second period. He took a drop pass from Mike York and drilled a shot past San Jose goalie Evgeni Nabokov.

Mighty Ducks 8, Red Wings 6

ANAHEIM, Calif. Sergei Fedorov scored his second goal of the game on a power play to lift Anaheim against his former team in the highest scoring game in Mighty Ducks history.

Blue Jackets 5, Canucks 4

VANCOUVER, British Columbia Nikolai Zherdev scored his second goal of the third period with 1:55 remaining. Zherdev, a 19-year-old playing his 50th NHL game since coming to Columbus from Russia midway through the season, also had two assists to set a career high with four points.
