First aid classes available

The American Red Cross of Alaska will hold a first aid and CPR review class from 6 to 10:30 p.m. today at its office at 503 Frontage Road in Kenai. The cost is $35. For more information, call 283-4556.

Community coalition to meet

The Community Action Coalition Board will meet from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the basement of the United Methodist Church of the New Covenant in Kenai. The meeting is open to the public. For more information, call Marilynn Jackson at 398-7738.

Horse development to be discussed

An organizational meeting for the Kenai Peninsula District 4-H horse development committee will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service office on Kalifornsky Beach Road.

The purpose of the committee will be to organize and facilitate horse-related activities for youth on the peninsula and improve communication between equestrian interest groups.

Miners meeting slated

Alaska Miners Association will meet from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Kenai Peninsula College in Room 101. The topics will be events happening in the mining industry. For more information, call Kenneth Lee at 776-5173 or e-mail him at

Volunteer drivers needed

The Kenai Veterans Center is seeking interested community members to drive its van Tuesdays or Thursdays to Anchorage. The center provides rides to veterans to the VA Medical Center. For more information, call Joe or Dave at 260-7640.
