FAIRBANKS (AP) -- A 41-year-old Fairbanks man has been charged with having sexual contact with an 8-year-old girl.

Wilbur R. Koyukuk was indicted this week on a charge of second-degree sexual abuse of a minor. The charge was filed Thursday in Fairbanks Superior Court.

Koyukuk is accused of having sexual contact with the girl while he stayed with her family in Fairbanks last November, said Fairbanks Police Detective Aaron Ring.

Koyukuk is being held in jail in lieu of $5,000 bail and a court-approved, third-party supervisor. The

Koyukuk has faced similar charges before, according to prosecutors.

He was arrested in 2000 on a felony charge of indecent exposure after a 9-year-old girl told police that Koyukuk tossed rocks against her window to wake her up one night then masturbated in front of her.

He has also been charged twice with failure to register as a sex offender, a requirement outlined in his sentence for the indecent exposure.
