FAIRBANKS (AP) -- Takory Stern, 19, of Fairbanks was indicted last week on charges of attempted murder and assault in the Sept. 21 shooting of another man in Fairbanks apartment.
Stern will stand trial in the shooting of Lee Meckel, also 19.
Stern was arrested Feb. 18 in Arizona and extradited back to Alaska after an Arizona Department of Public Safety investigator reported to Fairbanks police that he had contacted Stern in connection with a stolen property ring in the Phoenix area.
His arrest came about five months after Meckel was shot twice. One bullet struck Meckel's leg and another went through his chest and lodged in a lung.
Stern was indicted following testimony from Meckel and Fairbanks Police Detective Randy Coffey, who investigated the shooting.
