The Warriors survived a battle with the Crimson Bears in the championship semifinals Friday at the Class 4A state tournament, notching a 45-53 victory.
Wasilla trailed by 10 points, 28-18, at the half, but cut Juneau's lead to six after three quarters and finished by outscoring the Bears 13-5 in the final frame.
Wasilla's Ray Schafer led all scorers with 24 points.
Joe Ayers netted 11 for the Bears.
East 84, West Valley 69
The Thunderbirds defeated the Wolfpack in the consolation semifinals.
West Valley chipped away at East's early 10-point lead, pulling to within a point, 54-53, by the end of the third quarter, but the Thunderbirds finished with a 28-16 fourth quarter.
Bennie Holt led East with 19 points while Ozell Jamestown scored 16.
Josh Lohrenz netted 22 for the Wolfpack.
Chugiak 59, Kodiak 36
The Mustangs eliminated the Bears from the tournament in the consolation semifinals.
Chris Devine led Chugiak with 23 points and Aaron Loges scored 14.
Erich Simpson scored 10 for Kodiak.
Bartlett 72, Colony 47
The Golden Bears outscored the Knights 20-1 in the first quarter en route to a win in the championship semifinals.
Daniel Brown paced Bartlett with 25 points.
Brandon Hyslip was Colony's top scorer with 11.
Dimond 49, Juneau-Douglas 35
The Lynx broke open a close game with a 20-8 fourth quarter to eliminate the Crimson Bears from the tournament in the consolation semifinals.
Juneau-Douglas and Dimond were tied at 18 at the half, and the Lynx edged ahead by two points, 29-27, after three quarters of play.
Lillian Bullock scored 17 to lead the Lynx while ZeeZee Young and Jennifer Sandy each scored 11.
Letasha McKoy scored nine points to lead the Bears.
East 49, Colony 23
The Thunderbirds won their consolation semifinal, knocking the Knights out of the tournament.
Ashley Mickens paced East with 20 points while Aiesha Brown netted 13 points.
Kristina Klapperich scored 11 to lead the Knights.
Chugiak 54, Lathrop 51, 2OT
The Mustangs needed double-overtime to get past the Malemutes in the championship semifinals.
Lathrop was down 28-13 at the half but rallied to tie the game at 37 by the end of regulation and matched Chugiak's eight points in the first overtime.
Chugiak outscored Lathrop 9-6 in the second overtime to secure the win and passage to the championship game.
Kari Reabold led the Malemutes with 22 points.
For the Mustangs, Elyse Hartman scored 19 points, Erica Putnam netted 11 points and Kelsey Griffin scored 10 points.
