Soldotna chamber meeting Tuesday

Women's center meeting scheduled

The Kenai-Soldotna Women's Resource and Crisis Center will hold its monthly board meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the WRCC, located at 325 South Spruce Street in Kenai. For more information, call Barbara or Natalie at 283-9479.

Community council meeting scheduled

The North Peninsula Community Council will meet at 7 p.m. April 1 at the Nikiski Senior Center. The topic of the meeting will be the Department of Transportation. For more information, call 776-3257.

Small farms mini-series continues

The Kenai Peninsula Farm Bureau and UAF Cooperative Extension Service are sponsoring a series of lectures highlighting farm issues. Speakers will discuss a variety of farming topics, including marketing, loans and disaster relief, cost-share programs, land management and more. The mini-series will take place from 7 until 9:30 p.m. Wednesday in Kenai at the Cook Inlet Aquaculture building and Thursday in Soldotna at the Cooperative Extension Service office. Benefit dinner, auction scheduled

A benefit gourmet burger bash for Tommy Ellison, who has non-Hodgkins lymphoma, will be held at 6 p.m. April 5 at the Peninsula Grace Brethren Church on Kalifornsky Beach Road. There will be an auction, door prizes and a raffle.

Prizes include a 2002 Ski-Doo Summit 700 snowmachine and several rare shotguns. Tickets for the dinner are $10 per person or $25 per family. Snowmachine tickets are $20 each or 3 for $50. Shotgun tickets are $10 each or 3 for $25. All shotguns will go to one ticket drawn. All proceeds go toward helping the Ellison family with living expenses while out of state. Nurse to visit Nikolaevsk, Ninilchik

The Homer public health nurse will be in Nikolaevsk April 15 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., and at the Ninilchik Clinic April 26 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. for well-child checkups, pregnancy testing and immunizations. Folk dance planned

The Kenai River Folk Dancers are holding a family and community contra dance from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Kalifornsky Beach Elementary School. Admission is $5, and no experience is necessary. For more information, call 283-9227.
