Support gives Sterling Head Start a boost

Posted: Friday, March 24, 2006

Sterling Head Start would like to thank the communities of Sterling and Soldotna for the tremendous support shown for our sold out, annual fundraiser on March 4. It wouldn’t have been possible without the coordinated effort of many people, including Naptowne Café and their staff. They did a phenomenal job of catering and serving the dinner. We also want to thank the entertainers — the senior center hula dancers, our MC, Vonnie Pierce, everyone who participated in the show, and our auctioneer Norm Blakeley.

Many volunteers put countless hours preparing, setting up and cleaning up, without you the event wouldn’t have been possible. We especially want to thank the following local business and individuals that donated items and services for the auction: A Fireplace Store, Acapulco Restaurant, ACS, Alaska Lanes, Alaska Tech, Andy Diedrick, Anglers Lodge, Arctic Winter Games, Barb and Paul Koval, Beau Johnson, Big Dog Construction, Blakeley’s Auction Co. (Norm and Barbara Blakeley), Blockbusters, Brenda Randall — Partylite, Brenda Trefon, Charles Voss, Charlie Powell, Cindy Rainey, Cook’s Tesoro, Cornerstone Books and Supplies, Curves, Custom Stained Glass, Dave’s Custom Knives, Davis Block, Dr. Hu, First National Bank Alaska (Charlie Weimer), Barr, Fred Meyer, Fred Meyer Jewelers, George and Jan Elser, Gottschalk’s, Grace and Leon Merkes, Grand Burrito Restaurant, Grubstake Gruff Guide and Outfitter, Guy Lane, Helen Knopp, Hey Good Looking, Jane Stein, Jewels By Park Lane, John Klonts, Kenai Flower House (Lorretta Moore and Rowena), Kenai Riverbend Resort, King Salmon Restaurant, Liquidation World, Magpie’s Pizzeria, Mary and Dennis Wilt, MaryAnn Mills (Kenaitze Indian Tribe member), Melinda and Raymond Lamp, Merkes Enterprises, Midas, Mike and Debbie Feigley, Mike’s Welding, Moose River RV Park, Moosequitos, Peninsula Quilters, Polar Gymnastics, Riverside CarQuest, Jeff and Roylene Stout, Sadler’s, Schucks Auto Supply, Snap On, Sterling Pizza Boys, Suburban Propane (Della Boyer), Sweeney’s Clothing, The Duck Inn, The Fitness Place, Three Bears, Top Video, Travel Experts, Trustworthy Hardware, Uptown Motel, Wells Fargo and West Chiropractic Clinic.
