Oilers to have another Rocky sequel

Posted: Friday, March 24, 2006

Rocky Laguna, an outfielder and pitcher from Arizona State University, has agreed to return for his third season with the Oilers. The left-hander redshirted in 2004 and appeared in 59 games for the Sun Devils in 2005. The sophomore is from Yuma, Ariz., and is majoring in interdisciplinary studies with concentrations in education and family studies.

The Oilers were disappointed to learn that pitcher Andrew Cooper of Lenoir-Rhyne College has been sidelined for the remainder of the 2006 college season as well as the Oilers summer season. Cooper missed nearly all of the 2004 season after shoulder surgery. After appearing in five games this season, Cooper re-injured his shoulder and will again need corrective surgery.

Oilers Corner is submitted by Mike Baxter, acting manager of baseball operations for the Peninsula Oilers Alaska Baseball League team.
