Good day to all of my Nikiski neighbors. I am so excited that we are officially in spring, although most of the peninsula does not look like it.
Welcome back to all student and teachers after a long awaited spring break. I hope everyone is refreshed at ready for the last quarter until summer.
The adult dodgeball season begins today. The league plays each Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the Nikiski Community Recreation Center. For more information, call Tammy at 776-8800.
The Weight Watchers Program will not be held today. Next Monday's meeting will be the last in the 12-week session held at the Nikiski North Star Elementary School. For more information about becoming a group leader or attending a meeting, call Sharon at 262-7543.
The Nikiski Chamber of Commerce will meet Thursday at noon at the community recreation center. The speaker will be Dennis LeBlanc from CH2M Hill.

The North Peninsula Recreation Service Area will hold a monthly board meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the pool.
The community recreation center offers an arts and crafts class Fridays from 4 to 5:30. The class is for boys and girls in first through sixth grade.
A teen night will be held March 28 at the center from 7 to 10 p.m.
Redoubt Church will feature bluegrass gospel music Sundays after 6:30 p.m. Everyone interested is encouraged to bring their instruments and voices.
The senior center will hold a spring bazaar from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 3 and 4 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 5. Various goods will be available, including jewelry, beauty products, quilts, baked goods and locally grown mushrooms. Table rental space is $15 per day or three days for $30. The Point of Hope ministries in Nikiski will host the fifth annual Kenai Peninsula Women's Retreat at Solid Rock Bible Camp on April 3 through 5 in Sterling. The theme is "Holy Spirit Encounter: Three Sheets to the Wind."
The main speaker will be Nikiski's own Nancy Haney, along with nine additional workshop speakers. To register or obtain more information, contact Debbie Grimes at 776-8108 or www.pointtohope.org. The cost is $130.
The Nikiski North Star fourth- and fifth-graders will perform their version of "High School Musical" on April 15 at the Nikiski High School Auditorium. The group has been working hard to bring the Disney Channel favorite to life for the community.
