ANCHORAGE (AP) -- The coach of the hockey team at the University of Alaska Anchorage has been removed from his job.
The university announced Friday that Dean Talafous was being reassigned and the athletic department was looking for a new hockey coach.
The move came after a season when the Seawolves won just seven games and lost 24. The team had five ties.
Talafous replaced Brush Christiansen in 1996 to become just the second hockey coach for the university.
Last fall, the university gave Talafous a contract extension for the 2002 and 2003 season with a six-percent raise. His base salary this season was nearly $90,000.
