ANCHORAGE (AP) -- A 44-year-old pilot was seriously hurt when a home-built plane he was flying crashed on take-off in Seldovia.
Dennis Pollard was injured in the crash Sunday afternoon, the Federal Aviation Administration said.
According to the National Transportation Safety Board, the engine suddenly lost power as the small plane was about 150 feet in the air.
NTSB investigator Clint Johnson said the plane hit the runway hard.
Johnson said Pollard suffered back injuries and was taken to an Anchorage hospital.
