Drive planned for Nikiski school consolidation
For the next two weeks, the Nikiski Area Student Achievement Interest Group will collect signatures from Nikiski residents supporting the consolidation of Nikiski and North Star elementary schools into separate kindergarten through third grade and fourth through sixth grade configurations.
The consolidation plan already has received support from both schools' site councils. The petition information will be used to show community support for the consolidation plan at the April 7 school board meeting.

Women invited to brunch
The Peninsula Take-A-Break group will host a brunch for all women in the community from 10 to 11:30 a.m. today at the Solid Rock Conference Center. Annette Meyer will present unique ways of preserving photos, including techniques for making a video album. Vocalist Krissi Painter Alsworth will sing, and Barb Robek of Anchorage will speak. Kenai Chamber to discuss mentoring program
Sheila Margaret Pothast, facilitator of the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District's "Aspirations Advocate Program," will speak at the Kenai Chamber of Commerce's weekly luncheon meeting at noon Wednesday at Paradisos.
