Slick roads blamed for trooper car crash

ANCHORAGE (AP) Icy road conditions was blamed for a head-on collision between a pickup truck and an Alaska State Troopers K-9 patrol car in Big Lake.

The crash occurred Monday evening when the driver of the truck lost control of the vehicle on Big Lake Road, troopers said.

The truck driver and two troopers in the patrol car received minor injuries. Two passengers in the truck were not hurt. Neither was the K-9 dog, Rocco.

The crash occurred about 7:30 p.m. Trooper Robert Langendorfer of the Big Lake post was a passenger in the car being driven by trooper recruit Christopher Russell.

The pickup was being driven by Kevin Godwin, 27, of Big Lake.

The front of the troopers' vehicle was badly damaged. The pickup received relatively minor damage.
