HAINES (AP) Haines voters are siding with a campaign to repeal a borough-wide 4 percent tour tax.
Results of a special election Tuesday show 422 in favor of the repeal and 371 against.
There are 18 questioned or uncounted ballots remaining and a week for mailed absentee ballots to arrive.
Proponents of the repeal said it would help lure cruise ships back to Haines.
Opponents argued the borough can't afford to lose the $185,000 the tax generated last year.
