The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District hosted an academic pentathlon competition March 3.

The team results were as follows: Soldotna, first; Homer B, second; Homer A, third; Seward A, fourth; Ninilchik, fifth, Seward B, sixth; Kenai B, seventh; and Kenai A, eighth.

Individual winners were: Lydia Ames of Soldotna, honors essay; Cherise Moffet-Wilson of Homer, scholastic essay; Chelsea Franklin and Joel Olsen, both of Homer, tied varsity essay; Nyssa Baechler of Homer, honors math; Mandi Grenier of Soldotna and Jesse Leman, tied scholastic math; Logan McDonald of Seward, varsity math; Thomas Wyatt of Soldotna, honors speech; Colleen Turkington of Homer, scholastic speech; Dylan Le-wald of Homer, varsity speech; Kimberly Hewitt of Seward and Alex West of Soldotna, tied honors super quiz; Ben Hawks of Homer, scholastic super quiz; Dylan Lewald of Homer, varsity super quiz; Patrick Moore of Soldotna, honors science; Rusty Single-ton of Soldotna, scholastic science; Erick Morris of Sold-otna, varsity science; Lydia Ames of Soldotna, honors overall score; Mandi Grenier of Soldotna, scholastic overall score; and Joel Olsen of Homer, varsity overall score.
