KPHA plans dinner, auction fund-raiser

The Kenai Peninsula Hockey Association U-16 midget team will host a spaghetti feed and auction at 5 p.m. today at the Soldotna Sports Center. Tickets are $5 per person or $15 for a family of four. Tickets are available at Redline Sports, the Kenai Chamber of Commerce and at the door. Proceeds will go to help the team attend nationals in Ellenton, Fla.

Seward chamber to host Mitch Seavey

The Seward Chamber of Commerce will host an open house and reception for Mitch Seavey, winner of the 2004 Iditarod Dog Sled Race, at 5 p.m. today at the Alaska SeaLife Center.

After the reception, a short parade of community members will escort Seavey up Fourth Street to the First National Bank for the Mayor's Cup Race drawing at 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend. For more information, call the Seward Chamber of Commerce at (907) 224-8051.

Safety Day meeting scheduled

There will be a Safety Day planning meeting at 5:15 p.m. today at Fred Meyer. All interested community members and organizations are invited to attend. For more information, call Nancy Mitchell at 262-4440.

Little League to begin registration

Soldotna Little League will hold player registration at its office on 374 Lovers Lane in Soldotna above Alaska Great Skate from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 4 p.m. April 3. For more information, call Hope Thompson at 262-1757.

Park advisory board to discuss budget reductions

The Southern Peninsula State Parks advisory board will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. April 6 at the Ninilchik Senior Center. Agenda items will include proposed reductions of the state parks budget and the impact of contracting with private businesses for the management of the Kasilof, Ninilchik-Deep Creek and Anchor Point area state parks.

There also will be a presentation on the Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan update. There will be opportunity for comment. The public is invited to attend. For more information, call district ranger Jack Blackwell at 262-5581.

Genealogical society to meet

The Totem Tracers Genealogical Society will host "Resource Saturday" from 1 to 3 p.m. April 10 to help interested community members answer questions about genealogy. For more information, call Cheryl Hamann at 283-4481.

Clarion seeks information on military members

Last spring, the Peninsula Clarion ran a story listing area residents serving in the military. The Clarion is updating its information for a story on where those servicemen and women are now. Peninsula residents with family or friends in the military are invited to submit information.

Submissions should include the serviceperson's name, rank and branch of service, as well as location, local connection and any other pertinent information. It also should include contact information for the person submitting the update.
