Tyson joins Army

Former Kenai resident Army Pvt. Dennis K. Tyson Jr. graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.

During training, Tyson received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions.

He is the son of Marsha Mitchell of Kenai and Dennis Tyson Sr. of Lakewood, Wash.

Tyson is a 2006 graduate of Kenai Central High School.

Stelljes joins Air Force

Former Kenai resident Air Force Airman Dustin R. Stelljes graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

During training, Stelljes studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies. In addition, he earned credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

He is the son of Raymond Stelljes of California and grandson of Bobbi Stelljes of Soldotna.

Stelljes is a 2006 graduate of Kenai Central High School.
