Borough Mayor John Williams and Ken Campbell, AK USA Board member surrounded by staff, officials, and supporters cut the AK USA ribbon officially opening the new branch in Kenai.
The fourth branch of AlaskaUSA Federal Credit Union is now open for business in Kenai. At Tuesday’s official opening Kenai Peninsula Borough Mayor John Williams was on hand along with Kenai City Councilwoman Linda Swarner who joined AK USA Board member Ken Campbell, President Bill Eckhardt, Vice President Becky Hutchinson, along with a host of other AK USA staff and community supporters to see the ribbon cut and the doors open on the beautiful new facility. “I just love attending the openings of new financial facilities on the Peninsula, because it’s a sign of coming economic growth and prosperity and we’re very proud of Alaska USA’s continued investment in serving the financial needs of our community,” said Williams.
Cheryl Bridge, Manager of both Kenai and Spur Hwy Branches and her staff now ready to serve all your financial needs at the new AK USA branch on the Spur Highway.
According to Vice President Becky Hutchinson the design of the building was created to fit in with the Alaskan atmosphere, “We love it, the contractors did a marvelous job and we feel it fits in with Kenai and the pioneer spirit of Alaska very well,” Hutchinson told the Dispatch. Alaska USA is also celebrating their 60th anniversary of doing business in Alaska, “We first started as a military organization back in 1948 as a financial cooperative for military personnel, but now we are completely open to the general public. The difference between a bank and a credit union is that credit unions are owned by the account holders so that our profits go back to our members in the form of services and reduced rates for loans and paying higher dividends on savings accounts, and a bank is a for profit stock held organization with their profits going back to the stock holders,” explained Hutchinson.
According to Branch Manager Cheryl Bridge the new location was designed with their customers needs in mind and features a 3-lane drive through window to provide faster, better service for drive through customers, a spacious interior with three private member service offices to provide added privacy for loan customers, and a meeting room which will soon be available to the public for private meetings, “It’s a lovely spacious atmosphere, I’ll continue to manage our super market branch in the Carr’s Safeway which is wonderful and convenient for our customers, but not as accommodating for our business customers to be drawn to. In addition to our full service branch, the new Kenai Financial Center has full time Mortgage Services and Insurance Brokerage Services of both personal lines as well as business lines for our members convenience, and we’d like to invite everyone to stop by and visit our new center and take a tour of the facility,” said Bridge. The new Kenai Financial Center on the Spur Highway is open Monday thru Friday, 9:00 to 5:30, with the Branch open Monday thru Saturday, 9:00 to 6:00 at drive up and 10:00 to 6:00 in the lobby.
