This is in response to the article written by Ted Bailey, "The Refuge Notebook." There is an old song "those were the days my friend, I thought they'd never end." Boy, isn't that true.
The days of enjoying the outdoors the way we remember as kids are gone. The reason people are not as interested in "playing" are that the rules and regulations have become so ridiculous the fun is gone. Take for instance the amount of bank closures on the Kenai. Who has fun standing in water all day trying not to touch the grass on the bank? How about fishing with small children or an older person? Not safe, not fun.
We have become a society of "don't touch the grass, don't touch the land and by the way don't forget to pack out your poop."
