Simple act makes community a better place

Posted: Friday, March 26, 2010

A few weeks ago while in River City Books, I saw daffodils growing in coffee cans. A sign said they were a gift for donating to the Alaskan Food Bank. They were grown by kindergarten students at Soldotna Elementary School. What a great thing for the teacher, the children and the book store owner to do in these hard times.

This simple act has done more for the community than all the hate-filled,violence-promoting letters to the editor of Ray Southwell and Norm Olson of the so called "Citizens Militia." I'd like to thank the teacher, the children and the book-shop owner for this simple act that makes our community a better place.
