Bingo fundraiser Saturday

The Nikiski Senior Citizens Center Will hold a March Madness bingo night at 7 p.m. doors will open at 6 p.m. Cash prizes, door prizes and a snack bar is planned. Call 776-7654 for more information.

Candidates forum slated

An HEA candidates forum will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Kenai Peninsula College.

Youth leaders gather

The Tustumena District of the Great Alaska Council, Boy Scouts of America will hold a Round Table meeting April 1 at 7 p.m. at Cook Inlet Aquaculture Association Building. The topics will be camp, Scouting for Food, Pinewood Derby and Scout-O-Rama.

Catfish dinner set to dish

The Sterling Senior Center will hold a catfish fry April 3 from 5 and 7 p.m. Coleslaw, hush puppies, baked beans, and bread pudding also will be served. The cost is $12.50 for adults and $6.25 for children under 10. Sign up at the front desk, or call 262-6808 for more information.

Pet photos can be color or black and white and should be no smaller than 3-by-5 inches. They may include people. Limit one photo per household. They can be dropped off at the Kenai office, mailed to the Clarion at P.O. Box 3009, Kenai, 99611, or e-mailed to A brief explanation of the photo, the pet's and owner's names, owner's address and phone number must be included.

The Clarion is seeking recipes to include in its Wednesday Food section. Send recipes to, fax them to 283-3299 or drop them by the office at 150 Trading Bay Drive in Kenai. La Leche group to meet

The La Leche League of Soldotna and Kenai will meet from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. the first Tuesday of the month at the Frontier Community Services Playroom in the Red Diamond Center on Kalifornsky Beach Road. The league is a breastfeeding resource group that offers free monthly meetings, mother-to-mother breastfeeding support, telephone assistance and a lending library. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers are invited to attend. Babies are welcome.
