FAIRBANKS (AP) -- A 20-year-old Fairbanks woman died and a Seward woman was seriously injured in a head-on collision on the Parks Highway, Alaska State Troopers said.
Lauran Manning died Wednesday in the crash near Mile 133 of the highway about 35 miles north of the Talkeetna Spur Road. Manning had been driving a a 2002 Ford Mustang.
In Sook Grinage, 54, was driving the other vehicle, a 2003 Subaru Legacy. Medics had to extricate Grinage from her vehicle, troopers said.
Grinage was medevaced with serious injuries to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage.
The accident occurred just before 6 p.m.
There were no passengers in either vehicle, troopers said.
