Process industry to hold forum

On April 4 and 5, the Kenai Process Industry Careers Commit-tee, in partnership with the Kenai Peninsula Borough and ConocoPhillips Alaska, is hosting a mini-forum in conjunction with the Kenai Peninsula Career and Job Fair on April 5. The forum will focus on the career training programs that are being fostered within the Kenai Peninsula Borough to meet the process industry's future work force training demands and the outlook for the Cook Inlet Basin oil and gas industry.

The first day of the forum will be held at the Kenai Merit Inn Conference Center from 4 to 8 p.m. The second day sessions will be held at the Kenai Peninsula Job Fair at Kenai Central High School from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. The career fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Nonprofit workshop scheduled

The Foraker Group, along with ConocoPhillips Alaska and the United Way of Anchorage, presents "Public Relations for Nonprofits: Low Cost Tips and Techniques to Achieve High-Profile Results." The workshop will be April 8 at the Land's End Resort in Homer from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This session will be conducted by Teresa Moore, a noted trainer from Seattle, who works with nonprofits to create public awareness, understanding and support. During her workshop, Moore will give tips on building a more vital organization through creative communications and strong community relationships.

Hammon receives outstanding service award

Fred Hammon of Soldotna & Chevron Service in Soldotna recently received the AAA Mountain West Distinguished Service Award for providing outstanding service to our members in 2002. To be eligible for this award, Hammon was nominated by an AAA member who received emergency roadside assistance from Soldotna Y Chevron Service.

The Distinguished Service Award recognizes Hammon for upholding high standards in providing quality service and excellent roadside assistance.
