Black bear baiting clinics planned

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game will hold three black bear baiting clinics on the Kenai Peninsula. Hunters who already have attended a clinic and been certified do not need to be certified again. Clinics are approximately three hours long and will be held at 6 p.m. today at Seward High School; at 6 p.m. April 4 at the Cook Inlet Aquaculture building in Kenai; and at 6 p.m. May 2 at the Soldotna Sports Center. Defensive driving class offered

The AARP "55 Alive" defensive driving class will be held today and Friday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Kenai Senior Citizens Center. The cost is $10, and the course is open to everyone. For more information, call Vivian at 260-3966.

Domestic violence support meeting canceled

The Women's Resource and Crisis Center's domestic violence support group will not meet Friday. The next meeting will be April 4. For more information, call 283-9479.

Ninilchik endowment dinner planned

An endowment dinner will be held Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Ninilchik Senior Citizens Center. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. The dinner will feature prime rib, a pie auction and door prizes. For more information, call (907) 567-3988.

KCHS plans academic banquet

Kenai Central High School will recognize students for academic excellence at a banquet at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the KCHS cafeteria. Dave Larson, a teacher at the school, will be the featured speaker.

Kenaitze Head Start to hold garage sale

The Kenaitze Head Start graduation committee will hold a garage sale April 4 from noon to 5 p.m. and April 5 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to raise funds for its graduation ceremony. Anyone wishing to donate items may bring them to Head Start on Willow Street in Kenai between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, call 283-0707.

Pop Warner cheerleading sign-ups planned

Sign-ups for Pop Warner cheerleading for children ages 7 to 16 will be held at Carrs, Safeway and Fred Meyer from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 5, from noon to 4 p.m. April 6 , from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 12 and from noon to 4 p.m. April 13. Historical society plans show-and-tell

Members and guests at the next Kenai Historical Society meeting will have a chance to share family treasures or historically significant items during a show-and-tell program in the Kenai Community Library conference room April 6 at 1 p.m. The public is welcome.
