SPHS board to meet

A special meeting of the South Peninsula Hospital Service Area board will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Kenai Peninsula Borough conference Room B in Soldotna.

The topic will be to ask the borough to accept the service area board's request to terminate the sublease and operating agreement with the South Peninsula Hospital Inc. Public testimony will not be taken.

Used book sale slated

The Soldotna Public Library volunteers will hold a used book sale from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the library.

CPGH board to meet

The Central Peninsula General Hospital Inc. board of directors will meet at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the Borealis Room at the hospital. It is open to the public. For a copy of the agenda, visit

FAS training planned

Frontier Community Services will sponsor a workshop on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center.

Deb Evensen-Hill will instruct. The topic will be individuals with FAS in a school setting. The cost is $25. Parent scholarships are available.

University of Alaska Anchorage graduate credit is available.

Flyball seminar slated

The Peninsula Dog Obedience Group will sponsor a flyball seminar from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 16 at the PenDOG facility on Kalifornsky Beach Road in Soldotna. Participants are encouraged to bring a sack lunch; beverages will be provided. No dogs, please.

Running club forming

The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Kenai Peninsula is forming a coed running club for children in grades third through fifth. It will be a combined running and education program.

It will run April 18 through June 11 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. The cost is $30. Registration deadline is Friday. Participants must be current members.
