Swim lessons available

The Nikiski swimming pool will offer beginning and intermediate swim lessons April 4 through 20. Registration will be at 1 p.m. today at the pool. Classes will run Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. For more information, call Nigel at 776-880.

Relay for Life meeting today

The Relay for Life planning team will meet at 5:30 p.m. today at Central Peninsula General Hospital in the Illiamna Room. Volunteers are needed to help plan the June 2 and 3 relay. For more information, call 262-6656.

KMS assistant principal interviews set

Interviews for a new assistant principal at Kenai Middle School will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the library. It is open to the public. After the interviews there will be an opportunity to give written input on each candidate.

SoHi after-grad meeting slated

The Soldotna High School after-graduation party committee will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the lounge. The party will be held May 26 at the Challenger Learning Center of Alaska in Kenai.

The committee needs assistance with chaperoning, planning and coordinating activities, decorations and food. Monetary donations and donations of prize items also are needed. Attendance at planning meetings is not necessary. For more information, call Mary Jo Spotts at 262-5447.

Autism to be discussed

The Alaska Autism Resource Center, Special Education Service Agency, will sponsor a free presentation by nationally known autism consultant Julie Donnelly from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday in the meeting room at Froso’s Restaurant in Soldotna.

Bazaar tables available

The Nikiski Senior Citizens Center will host its annual spring bazaar Thursday through Saturday. Tables are available to rent for $15 per table per day.

Fundraiser dinner slated

The Kenai Snow Goose chapter of Ducks Unlimited will host its annual banquet fundraiser at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Eagles on the Kenai Spur Highway. Dinner, at 6:30 p.m., door prizes and raffles are some of the planned activities. Tickets are available by calling Shannon at 252-0031.

Fair fundraiser slated

The Kenai Peninsula State Fair will host a celebrity waiter fundraiser event and live auction Saturday. The theme is “Jammin’ with the Salmon.”

The emcee is J.R. from WHQ Radio and celebrity waiters include Mike Sweeney of Sweeney’s Clothing, Joe Gallagher from HEA, Ninilchik Wolverine’s coach Dan Leman, Doug Blossom of Cook Inlet Fisherman’s Fund, Ninilchik Fire Chief Mike Chihuly and Jeff Berger from Deep Creek Custom Packing.

Tickets are $30 each or $50 a couple and are available at Sweeney’s in Soldotna, Kristie Leaf State Farm in Kenai and the Kenai Peninsula State Fair office in Ninilchik.
