Collector seeks pens

Nathaniel Hacker,11, of Clarkston, Wash. collects pens and pencils with names, logos and pictures on them.

Nathaniel is seeking interested community members willing to send him pens and pencils from the peninsula. He requests that pens not be sent in regular letter envelopes, as he has had several arrive broke or with the envelope torn and the pen missing.His address is: Nathaniel Hacker,1851 Reservoir Rd., Clarkston, WA 9940.

Volunteer nominations sought

Nominations for First Lady Nancy Murkowski’s 2006 Volunteer Awards are being accepted. The nomination forms due Friday, are available at, at the capitol in Juneau, or at the governor’s regional offices in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Kenai and Wasilla.

The First Lady’s Volunteer Awards are presented each year to Alaskans who demonstrate either lengthy service to the community or state, extraordinary personal commitment, or whose efforts have resulted in a significant impact to their community or the state.
