Longtime Kenai resident Marsha Kay Payton died Monday, March 24, 2008, in Soldotna after a long illness. She was 62.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Kenai Chapel. Bishop Brant Ellis will officiate. A memorial potluck will immediately follow the service at the church.
Mrs. Payton was born April 2, 1945, to Marshall and Melba Boyce in Boise, Idaho. She moved to the Kenai-Soldotna area on March 12, 1980. Mrs. Payton worked as an accountant for Central Peninsula Hospital from 1983 to 1989. She enjoyed knitting, cake decorating, dice, cards and giving advice and wisdom.
"Marsha found joy and beauty in everyday and everything. She was full of life and love. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her. Her most treasured in life were her children, Linda, Rocky and Marshall. She will live on in them," her family said.
Mrs. Payton was preceded in death by her father, Marshall Davis Boyce.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Payton and her husband, Raymond Hensley, of Kenai; son, Marshall Payton and his wife, Fern, of Kenai; granddaughters, KathLynn and Leanna Payton of Kenai and Lilla Payton of Washington; grandson, David Payton of Kenai; great-grandson, Jeramiah Payton of Kenai; and extended family.
Arrangements were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
