ORLANDO, Fla. Tracy McGrady scored seven of his 30 points in the final 3:54 and outdueled Minnesota's Kevin Garnett to help the Orlando Magic defeat the Timberwolves 110-107 Thursday night.
The Magic, who have won six of seven, closed the game on a 13-3 run.
Vlade Divac added 13 rebounds for Sacramento, which lowered its magic number for winning a second straight Pacific Division title to four. Any combination of Kings victories and Portland losses totaling four will do it.
The Rockets trimmed a 20-point third-quarter lead to 11 in the final period, but Jackson stopped the slide by hitting the last of his five 3-pointers with 5:16 remaining.
The loss dropped Houston (37-35) a half-game behind idle Phoenix in the race for the eighth and final postseason berth in the Western Conference.
Cuttino Mobley led the Rockets with 21 points.
Duncan scored 15 points on 7-for-9 shooting in the half, while Mobley, Steve Francis and Yao Ming shot just 4-of-18 for nine points. Francis finished with eight points.
