Soares, Purcell wed in Kenai

Ashliey Re'ne Soares and Matthew David Purcell were married Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, in an evening ceremony at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Kenai. Father Clem officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Chet Soares and Alvin Sue Diaz of Kenai. She wore a white, strapless gown embroidered with Australian crystals and a bolero jacket and carried two dozen red roses.

The groom is the son of Mike and Toni Purcell of Anchorage. He wore a black tuxedo with a white tie and vest.

Kristen Quisenberry of Layton, Utah, the bride's cousin, was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Krystina Wheeler of Kenai, Barbarah Anderson of Anchorage and Barrianne Perkins of Palmer. They wore berry red gowns and carried one dozen white roses.

The best man was Bob Keiner. Groomsmen were Michael Purcell, brother of the groom, Ian Carroll and Joe Chavez, all of Anchorage. Ushers were Billy Soares, T.J. Soares, Anthony Diaz and Dante Diaz, all brothers of the bride.

Ashley Segura of Kenai was the flower girl, and the ring bearers were Austin Diaz of Kenai, brother of the bride, and Braeton Purcell of Anchorage, nephew of the groom.

A reception was held at the American Legion. Adam Nath sang "A Moment Like This."

The groom's grandmother, Ruth Rankin of Lafayette La., was an honored out-of-state guest.

The couple honeymooned in Anchorage and plan to take a trip to Hawaii in April. They live in Kenai.
