Brooks’ actions hurt Iditarod

Posted: Wednesday, March 28, 2007

All I know is how I feel about this outrageous act that has taken place on the trail of the worlds greatest, toughest and most historic race.

Why should a well know and well sponsored musher be able to race again with out a fine or other major action taken? Is disqualifying him really enough?

If I went out and hit my dog with a stick and was reported to the authorities were would I be? In jail and, or a major fine, right! Animal abuse is animal abuse, I don’t care if your Ramy Brooks or Joe Smoo!

Don’t these people watch animal planet?

It’s a good thing I know not all mushers resort to this kind of behavior, but what about the rest of the world? The Iditarod is already being accused of unethical treatment of the dogs. I’m not sure disqualifying Ramy Brooks will be enough to take this dark shadow off the Iditarod!
