Public Health plans 1-day closure

Kenai Public Health Center will be closed Monday in observance of Seward's Day.

It will reopen Tuesday at 8 a.m. Call 335-3400 for more information.

Immunization clinic hours extended

Kenai Public Health Center is extending walk-in immunization clinic hours Wednesday for children who need to meet the varicella requirement for school. The center will have walk-in immunization clinic at the Kenai Public Health Center from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Call 335-3400 for more information. Parents are asked to bring their child's immunization record with them.

Gardeners gather

Central Peninsula Garden Club will meet April 6 at 7 p.m. at the Cook Inlet Aquaculture Building on K-Beach Road. The topic will be "Garden Planning, Yards to Gardens, Control Common Garden Weeds."

Awareness walk slated

The LeeShore Center will hold a "Alaskans Choose Respect" awareness event in support of Governor Parnell's "Alaskans Choose Respect" initiative and statewide efforts to raise awareness of domestic violence and sexual assault from 2 to 4 p.m. March 31. Attendees will meet at the Kenai Gazebo at 2 p.m. and walk to the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call 283-9479.

Talent show on tap

The annual Skyview High School talent show, co-hosted by the school's National Honor Society and State Mock Trial Team and also in conjunction with the Soldotna Community Schools will be held at 6 p.m. April 20 in the Skyview commons.

The event will showcase and provide students an opportunity demonstrate their talents in performing and visual arts. The price of admission is $3 per person. Refreshments will be sold at the show. For more information, call 260-2300.

Free prom dresses available

Soldotna High School Student Council is having Cinderella's Closet 2010. All area high school ladies in need of a prom dress, shoes, and accessories are invited. All items are free. The "store" will be open March 30 and April 1 and 8 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. each day.

Swimming lessons

The Kenai Pool will be offering American Red Cross Swim Lessons, Level 2. This is for children ages 5 and older. It will run from March 29 - April 28 and meet on Mondays and Wednesday from 5:10 p.m. - 5:50 p.m.

Sign up at the Kenai pool. The cost is $50.

Fish and game advisory meeting slated

The Kenai/Soldotna Fish & Game Advisory Committee will meet at 6:30 pm on Wednesday at the Kenai Peninsula College, Room 115, located at 34820 College Drive to receive a report from the Statewide BOF meeting, and prepare proposals for Cook Inlet.

HEA board candidate forum slated

A forum will be held for HEA candidates at 6:30, on Tues., March 30 in the Commons at Kenai Peninsula College. The forum is a joint effort of the League of Women Voters, Kenai Watershed Forum, and the KRC Sustainability Club.
