Help wanted

Dear people of Alaska,

I am doing a report on Alaska. If you could send stuff, please do. Like animal hide or a picture of a state animal. Just please send something. Or send letters.

If you can't send stuff, send a letter. Make it about the state or maybe the state flag. The address is at the bottom of the letter. Please send a letter.

Thanks for reading this. Please send.

Garcia honored

Adrianna Garcia of Kenai received the Notre Dame Alumni Association's Mike Russo Award. The award is given to recognize the exemplary qualities in Notre Dame students who epitomize the fine character of Mike Russo. In May 1990, Mike died from injuries sustained in a traffic accident on the evening he returned home to St. Louis after completing his freshman year at Notre Dame.

Adrianna Garcia is honored for her dedication to service and the values of Notre Dame. Adrianna is a sophomore from Kenai pursuing a double major in Philosophy and Spanish. She is a member of the Notre Dame Naval ROTC program and participates in a multitude of extra-curricular activities.

At Notre Dame, she dedicates much of her time to St. Adalbert's Parish School. She tutors in the afternoon and has established a Big Sister and Big Brother program with two of her dormmates from McGlinn Hall.

Adrianna also volunteers with the Catholic Workers Society and at St. Margaret's House.

Adrianna is very involved within her Naval ROTC Unit. She has shown a strong dedication to volunteering within the unit, and often takes the initiative to organize various events. She never fails in her commitment to her midshipmen and is always willing to go above and beyond the expectations of the staff and her fellow midshipmen.

Adrianna will commission in the United States Navy upon graduation. She hopes to dedicate her life to social work, particularly in Latin America.

She is the daughter of Soldotna Police Sergeant Tony Garcia and Jackie Garcia.
