At Tokyo, Hideki Matsui homered in his first at-bat back in Japan, leading New York over his former team. Jorge Posada and Derek Jeter also homered in the Yankees' first game in Japan in 49 years.

Rockies 9, Rangers 4

At Tucson, Ariz., Preston Wilson homered in his first game of the spring for Colorado. Wilson, who led the NL with 141 RBIs last season, had been sidelined because of a sore left knee.

Braves 6, Astros 5

At Kissimmee, Fla., Roger Clemens pitched six innings and gave up a home run to Chipper Jones. Houston third baseman Mike Lamb homered, but also made three errors.

Marlins 4, Red Sox 0

At Jupiter, Fla., Brad Penny pitched five scoreless innings and Ramon Castro hit his sixth home run for Florida.

Dodgers 12, Cardinals 2

At Vero Beach, Fla., Los Angeles pitcher Jeff Weaver hit a three-run homer off Woody Williams.

Phillies 5, Blue Jays 2

At Clearwater, Fla., Mike Lieberthal went 4-for-4 with a two-run homer. Jim Thome went 1-for-3 and played first base for the first time since breaking a finger March 5.

At Port St. Lucie, Fla., Rodrigo Lopez did not allow an earned run in seven innings for Baltimore.

Earlier in the day, New York acquired infielder Ricky Gutierrez from the Cleveland Indians for a player to be named.

At Fort Myers, Fla., Kyle Lohse threw five shutout innings for Minnesota. Cincinnati starter Paul Wilson pitched six solid innings.

At Viera, Fla., Sunny Kim blanked Detroit on two hits over six innings. Montreal's Tony Batista went 0-for-2 in his first game since being sidelined March 10 because of the chicken pox.

At Winter Haven, Fla., Rick Reed worked four sharp innings in his bid to become Pittsburgh's No. 5 starter.

Diamondbacks 9, Mariners 2

At Peoria, Ariz., Brandon Webb allowed two runs on four hits and a walk with three strikeouts in seven innings to improve his spring record to 3-1.

Angels 3, Giants 0

At Scottsdale, Ariz., Jarrod Washburn tossed 6 1-3 shutout innings and allowed five hits despite deadarm, in the second meeting in as many days between the teams.

Cubs 3, Athletics 2

At Mesa, Ariz., Carlos Zambrano gave up one run and six hits over five innings and LaTroy Hawkins got his second save of the spring for Chicago.

Royals 14, Padres 6

At Surprise, Ariz., Carlos Beltran went 3-for-3 to raise his Cactus League-leading batting average to .500.

Brewers 8, White Sox 5

At Tucson, Ariz., Wes Helms went 3-for-4 and drove in four runs for Milwaukee.
