The 16th Annual Soldotna St. Patrick’s Day Celebration was truly a successful day enjoyed by the community.

Special thanks go to our major sponsors Chevron, Central Peninsula Hospital, Febra Hensley at Freedom Realty, Homer Electric Assoc., Sweeney’s and ConocoPhillips. Other sponsors include AK Express, Mykel’s, Denny’s Auto Body, Key Bank, Exploring Alaska TV Show, Nancy Mitchell at State Farm Insurance, HiSpeed Gear, The City of Soldotna, Esther Chambers at Kenai Peninsula Association of Realtors, Margaret Stanley at USPS, Ronda Thompson Consulting, Safeway/Soldotna and Catherine Booth at Residential Mortgage. These are just a sample of the great community minded businesses we have on the Kenai Peninsula. When the fireworks were in jeopardy of cancellation due to funding, these businesses stepped up and made it happen. Thank you.

PARADE: Special thanks to Mike Sweeney; our parade leading Irishman, who started the celebration 16 years ago. Thank you to everyone who entered the parade, you were all terrific. Thank you to the spectators who lined the streets to watch the procession; to the Soldotna Police Department who kept everyone safe at the parade and the VFW for the showing the colors and leading the parade.

DINNER and ENTERTAINMENT: Thank you to the fantastic North Star Cloggers, Teresa Danielson who coordinated the talented children who entertained the crowd -- Greta and Lief Danielson. A special thanks to Norm and Barb Blakely and Linda Brazier for the delicious corned beef and cabbage dinner. Everyone appreciated your time and special recipes. Thanks to Safeway for the fantastic dessert to top off the great dinner. The Peninsula Oilers were very gracious with the fun jump castle and the kids had a blast in it, they also enjoyed Scoop and all his treats for the kids. Over 100 parents and kids enjoyed the free skate at the sports center, thanks to the staff for all their help.

We appreciate the partnership with the Peninsula Clarion in getting the word out to the community. The volunteers and Chamber staff that give beyond what is asked: Lori Goodman -- Event Coordinator, Mike Sweeney, Becky Hutchinson, Angie Glaves, Alice Paulson, Sylvia Reid, Micki Schiffman, DC Reid, Cari Hansen, Keri Hiler, Rick Booth, Robyn Sullens and Rebecca Hanson.

The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce was proud to bring the community together to enjoy St. Patrick’s Day 2007. Thank you again to everyone.
