Garage sale starts today

The Abundant Life Assembly of God Church in Sterling is having a garage sale today and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Proceeds will go toward the building fund for a new church.

The church is at Mile 81.5 of the Sterling Highway. Donations are being accepted. For more information, call 262-7266.

Solfirst sportsmen's banquet scheduled

The annual Soldotna First Assembly Sportsmen's Banquet will be held April 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall. This year's speaker is John Carpenter, the Channel 2 sports director who is known for his sports editorials "The World According to Carp."

The program also will feature a display of wild cats from Alaska and Africa. Door prizes, drawings and gifts will be distributed along with auctioned guided fishing trips. This year's meal is Kostcovian boar. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at Solfirst, the Sports Den or by calling 262-7416. Seating is limited.

Churches plan meeting at KCHS

Twenty-two central peninsula churches are coming together for a community Palm Sunday service at 6 p.m. April 8 at Kenai Central High School Auditorium.

The reason for the service is to worship together, pray for the communities and Easter services. The event will include two worship teams, special music, corporate and individual prayer, drama and short messages from community pastors. The service will culminate with the signing of the Kenai Peninsula Marriage Savers Covenant.

The event is an interfaith service, sponsored by the Peninsula Ministers Monthly Prayer Group, involving 32 area pastors. Seated is limited, and the doors to the auditorium will open at 5:30 p.m. For more information, call 262-7416.
