Community lucky to have St. Patrick’s volunteers, sponsors

Posted: Thursday, March 30, 2006

The 15th Annual Soldotna St. Patrick’s Day Celebration was truly a successful day enjoyed by the community.

Special thanks go to our major sponsors Wells Fargo, Wilder Construction and HEA. These are just a sample of the great community minded businesses we have on the Kenai Peninsula.

Parade: Special thanks to Mike Sweeney; our parade leading Irishman, who started the celebration 15 years ago. Thank you to everyone who entered the parade, you were all terrific. Thank you to the spectators who lined the streets to watch the procession; to the Soldotna Police Department who kept everyone safe at the parade.

Diner/auction: Thank you to the fantastic North Star Cloggers Teresa Danielson who coordinated the talented children who entertained the crowd — Greta and Lief Danielson. A special thanks to Tommy Hanson and Percilla Uie for the delicious corned beef and cabbage dinner. A great big thanks to the businesses and individuals who donated and attended the auction. The auction funds the fireworks display enjoyed by the community.

Fireworks: The grand finale fireworks display was enjoyed by everyone. Special thanks to Central Emergency Services for all their help and the City of Soldotna for clearing snow and all they do when needed.

We appreciate all of the coverage provided by the local media. The volunteers and chamber staff that give beyond what is asked: Becky Hutchinson, Alice Paulson, Angie Glaves, Jessica Mahan, Vanessa Sullens, Kayla Hanson, Sylvia Reid, Robyn Sullens, Erica Williamson, Rebecca Hanson and Brandi Montague.

The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce was proud to bring the community together to enjoy St. Patrick’s Day 2006.
