FAIRBANKS (AP) -- Fairbanks firefighters couldn't say no to Conny Funderburk's plea to pluck her calico kitten, Mira, from a tall tree.
Firefighters used an aerial ladder to rescue the 9-month-old cat Saturday after the feline spent the night in a neighborhood spruce tree.
Funderburk said has no idea how the cat got out of the house Friday. She didn't even know Mira was missing until she heard her loud cries the next morning.
Funderburk went to the fire station and pleaded her case. Firefighters later called to tell her they would help.
Funderburk said she's grateful for their efforts. She said Mira was cold and hungry after her ordeal, but otherwise seems fine.
