FAIRBANKS (AP) A Fairbanks teenager died after a gun his friend was handling went off, Alaska State Troopers said.
Benjamin Schertz, 14, and two friends were in a room at Schertz's home Sunday afternoon. One of the friends had brought two guns belonging to his mother and was handling one when it discharged.
Schertz was shot in the head.
He was pronounced dead just before 3 p.m. at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital.
Troopers said they were still investigating.
