Skyview teacher earns national recognition

Troy Minogue, a math teacher at Skyview High School, recently received a 2004 RadioShack National Teacher Award. He was among 110 educators to receive the award, which honors commitment to academic excellence in mathematics, science or technology. He will receive $3,000.

Minogue, who has taught for 12 years, teaches geometry, advanced algebra and math analysis. He received his bachelor of science degree in mathematics in 1990 from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and is pursuing a master's degree in math at Montana State University. He is a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and earned the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards Certification in 2002.

Minogue is the only Alaska teacher to receive the RadioShack award.
