The staff and students congratulate the cheerleaders for winning first place in their division. This is their third championship in state competition. The squad earned the title "Best Squad in the State," by winning the grand champion of the Alaska State Cheer Competition. Kayla Mullican and Sarah Endries were named as two of the top 12 cheerleaders in the state.

The PTSA will meet at 5:30 p.m. April 8.

Spring sports are under way. The soccer will play at Grace Christian on Friday, and track and field opens its season April 10 at the Skyview Peninsula Relays.

The drama department will present the Paul Zindel comedy "The Secret Affairs of Mildred Wild" at 7:30 p.m. April 15 through 17. It will feature senior Amy Shoemaker in the title role. The play tells the story of a bored, middle-aged housewife who escapes into the fantasy world of motion pictures when the stresses of life become more that she can handle. Tickets are $5 per person.

The prom will be from 9 p.m. to midnight April 24. Promenade begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $2.
