Jasen Suonvieri, Cody Williams, Kyle Shedd and Sydney Roumagoux earned second-place finishes in their respective events, highlighting a strong performance for the Skyview track and field team at the Tuesday Night at the Races competition at the Dome in Anchorage on Tuesday. Lumen Christi, Anchorage Christian Schools, Wasilla, Palmer, Houston, Grace Christian and West Anchorage also competed. Team champions were not reported.
Suonvieri placed second in the 100-meter dash in a time of 11.68 seconds, barely behind James McCall of Palmer (11.66). The junior placed eighth in the 400. Williams, also a junior, clocked a time of 4:48.83 to finish second in the 1,600. He earned seventh in the 400.
Shedd grabbed silver in the high jump, posting a mark of 5 feet, 4 inches. Houston's Charlie Buzby won the event with a jump of 5'6.
Roumagoux, competing on the girls side, was the runner-up in the 100 hurdles thanks to a time of 19.50. The sophomore also notched fourth in the 100 (13.86) and 26th in the 400 (1:11.53).
Other top finishers for Skyview included Albert White, who placed third in the 100 in 11:84; Richard Reynolds, who earned sixth and seventh in the 400 and 100, respectively; Brayden Holt, who grabbed fourth in the 1,600 (4:52.10); Alex Rodriguez, who placed third in the shot put with a toss of 40'5; and Marissa Mahan, who was third in the girls shot put, posting a distance of 29'11 1-2. The Panthers compete in the Big C Relays April 8-9 at the Dome.
