FAIRBANKS (AP) -- Alaska State Troopers are investigating the death of a Fairbanks man who was found dead Friday morning after an apparent fight.
Troopers said Richard Pilato was last seen alive when he knocked on a friend's door in Fairbanks Thursday night and asked if he could sleep on the couch. Trooper investigator Lantz Dahlke said the friend said it appeared that Pilato had been in a fight.
When the friend tried to wake Pilato on Friday, he found that Pilato had died. Dahlke said Pilato had been dead for several hours.
Troopers said they haven't discovered where the fight took place.
Dahlke said Pilato, who is originally from Washington, lived in the Fairbanks area off and on for several years.
