Karate club to raise funds for hospital

The International Karate Association Kenai Club will sponsor a martial arts event to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Boys and Girls Club gym.

Participants will raise money by obtaining sponsors to pledge an amount for each kick, punch or kata the student performs in a three-hour period.

Funds will be used to support the internationally-recognized Tennessee hospital in its fight against childhood catastrophic diseases, including cancer, AIDS and sickle cell anemia.

To make a pledge, call Barbara at the Boys and Girls Club at 283-2682 or benefit coordinator Richard Isley at 283-5432.
