Soldiers do appreciate support from Kenai Peninsula residents

AW Robert E. Greene is serving his country on the USS Carl Vinson, an aircraft carrier in the war zone. The following announcement was forwarded to him by his sister Kathy Toms, president of the Anchor Point Chamber of Commerce, with an attached note from her that simply said, " I will be out there for you!!!!"

Dear Friends,

Saturday, March 29th, at 12:00 there will be a war rally to support our troops and our president. Please come! The families of the soldiers need to know your are there and so do the veterans. Bring your signs, your pictures of soldiers who are serving, your flags and your hearts. Right now the Homer/Anchor Point area has as many as 10 soldiers serving on the front lines in Iraq.

Please come out and show your support.

This is his response to the announcement, via e-mail, to his sister and she has given me permission to share it with you.

OUTSTANDING!! I am going to let everyone here on the ship know that you all are doing this. It will hit a soft spot in them as it did in me when I read this.

THANK YOU FOR THE SUPPORT from all of us here on the USS Carl Vinson.

Straight from the war zone to Anchor Point! Our soldiers do hear us and do know that we are

supporting them. We are making a difference by encouraging them in their heroic task.

Keep up the good work!
