First Thursday

* Mike Morgan and Friends will play acoustic classics, folk, blues and Hawaiian slack key at St. Elias Brewing Co. in Soldotna today from 7 to 9 p.m.

* Kenai Fine Arts Center will host the 21st annual Visual Art Show sponsored by the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District art teachers. There will be a First Thursday reception from 6 to 8 p.m. and awards will be given.

* A reception for the exhibit called "Celebration," a non-rant invitational exhibit to honor the steps forward that the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered community has made of late will be held at the Art Works Gallery from 6 to 8 p.m. It will then move to Anchorage and exhibit at the Out North Theater Gallery from May 19 until June 26.

* Artists without Borders will open its monthly Art exhibit At a First Thursday reception from 5 to 7 p.m. today in the 4D Professional Building conference room on the corner of Marydale and the Spur Highway in Soldotna.

* Dragonfly Gallery in Soldotna will show new and original art quilts by Ann-Lillian Schell. An artist reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today. The work will be on display through April. For more information, call 260-4636.

* Middle School art will be showing at the Funky Monkey Coffee house in Kenai during the month of April. Students will be featured from Soldotna, Kenai and Nikiski middle schools. The show opens today at 5:30 p.m.

* The Triumvirate Theatre invites the community to take a journey back to the Dark Ages with King Arthur and his brave "Knights Of The Round Table" Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. at its theatre in the Peninsula Center Mall in Soldotna. Tickets are $10/advance or $12/Door. Call 953-7262 for more information, or to reserve tickets.

* The Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center, 11471 Kenai Spur Highway, will host James L. Evenson of Nikiski who will present paintings, and Ahna Iredale of Homer who will present new ceramic works in a dual exhibits through Saturday.

* On Saturday at 7 p.m. Stefanie's Music Studio and the Funky Monkey Coffeehouse will host "YouthShine"- an evening of young musicians. This is an opportunity for young people in the community to show off their musical talents in an open-mic type forum. There will be young musicians of all ages and levels.

* The Kasilof Historical Society's cabin museum is open from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays or by appointment. It has historical displays, and area artists and crafters are invited to display their work on weekends. The cabin is at Mile 1.5 of Kalifornsky Beach Road. For more information, call 262-5125.

* The Kenai National Wildlife Refuge Visitors Center on Ski Hill Road outside Soldotna has films on wildlife, the refuge and the history of the area daily at noon, 1, 2, 3 and 4 p.m. For more information and complete program listing, call 262-7021.

* AmVets Post No. 4 in the Red Diamond Center holds blind draw darts at 7 p.m. Wednesdays; Texas Hold 'Em at 7 p.m. Fridays and 4 p.m. Sundays; and open house and dinner at 6 p.m. and karaoke with Mary and Jack at 8 p.m. Saturdays.

* Casino Bar in Kenai will have live music by Tuff-e-Nuff Friday and Saturday. On Saturday it will also have an 1980s costume contest with prize awarded.

* Rainbow Bar in Kenai has free Texas Hold 'Em at 7 p.m. Monday and Wednesday; live music with Acoustic Rhythm Machine from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. and pool leagues Tuesday; and live music with the Maybrey Brothers Thursday through Saturday.

* The Duck Inn on Kalifornsky Beach Road has karaoke at 9 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays.

* The Riverside House in Soldotna hosts; the After 10 party Fridays and Saturdays with Rock Star DJ Service. Dancing until 5 a.m. and at 6 p.m. free Poker Night with Texas Hold"em Tournaments hosted by Kenai Peninsula Poker Association.

* The Hunger Hut at Mile 26.5 of the Kenai Spur Highway host the band 907 Saturday.

* The Place Bar is holding a spelling bee today at 7 p.m.

* The 406 in Kenai has karaoke with Steve and Debbie at 9 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

* Mugz Coffee Lounge in The Blazy Mall will host local musicians from 5 to 9 p.m. Fridays.

* Mykel's in Soldotna has music by Bob Ramponi from 6:30 to 9:30 Friday and Saturday.

* Veronica's in Old Towne Kenai, will host open mic from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday; and Shannon and Angie Bren will play Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
