WHITEHORSE, Yukon (AP) -- Alaska Gov. Tony Knowles and his counterparts from the Yukon and Northwest territories in Canada are set to address delegates at the North American Gas Strategies Conference in Houston Monday.
''The message I am taking to Houston is that together, Yukon and our northern neighbors in Alaska and Northwest Territories can help solve North Americas emerging energy crisis,'' Yukon Premier Pat Duncan said in a statement last week. ''We share immense natural gas resources and the will to develop these resources for the benefit of northern people and North American consumers.''
Northwest Territories Premier Stephen Kakfwi, Duncan and Knowles will all participate in an opening panel discussion titled Governments of the North: The Political Environment for Northern Gas.
The two-day gathering will review the impact of this winter's record gas prices and tight supply. Delegates will also learn about northern gas and other frontier supplies.
There will be more than 20 senior industry and government speakers from across North America. They will examine issues related to supply, pipelines, markets and prices in the North American gas industry.
Conference delegates are coming from across North America.
