Soldotna youth receives diploma, training

Jeremy Weeg Shedd recently graduated from Military Youth Academy at Fort Richardson after completing five months of training.

He also received his diploma. He is the son of Terry and Krystal Shedd of Soldotna.

New Eagles president elected

Michael E. Merlo of Kenai was recently elected president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Alaska State Aerie. He has been invited to attend the order's international convention in Louisville, Ky., in August.

Ping pong tourney results

The results of the Soldotna Elks Club weekly ping pong tournament are:

First place -- Brannon Ames and Chad Botirius

Second place -- Gary Brumley and Joe Szczesny

Third place -- Andy Szczesny and Wayne Brooks

Fourth place -- Skip Dove and Dan Mortenson

The tournament, held every Wednesday night at the Elks Club in Soldotna, is open to anyone who'd like to play.

There is a $5 entry fee, and partners are drawn at random before play begins. For more information, call Ray Debardelaben at 262-7415.
