Community Schools

This listing of Soldotna Community School classes beginning this week serves as a reminder for preregistered participants. Most classes require preregistration and prepayment. If you did NOT preregister, please call the Soldotna Community School office, at 262-6768, to check on cancellations and confirm your attendance.

Details about each class can be found in the Spring 2001 Soldotna Community School brochure, which is available at Soldotna and Kenai public libraries, the city of Soldotna and the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District.

Tuesday

Understanding Fibromyalgia, a holistic approach to chronic pain and fatigue: Taught by Dr. A. Nick Williams, chiropractor

The class will help those understand the neurological and physiological causes of this baffling disease. This workshop has emphasis on chronic muscular pain, fatigue and depression and its effect on the body. Participants will learn about non-drug alternatives.

Soldotna Middle School, room 6, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. There is a five-person minimum, 20 maximum. The cost is $10.

Beginning Spanish II: Taught by Eva Canedo

Prerequisite: Beginning Spanish I or prior Spanish experience. Continue building up your confidence and learn to express oneself in Spanish. Learn new vocabulary and expressions from a native through games, videos, songs and unique activities. Have fun while you learn. For kids 7 to 14 years old and adults.

Class at Soldotna Middle School, room 1, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 6 p.m. There is a 10-person minimum, and the cost is $45 for kids, $65 for adults.

Saturday

Eddie Eagle Gun Safety Class for Kids: Class taught by Rod Christopher, Peninsula Weapons Academy

Basic gun education at Soldotna Middle School, room 1, from 1 to 4 p.m. for one day for kids 6 to 10 years of age. The cost is $10.

Make-It-and-Take-It Craft Fair

For kids in kindergarten through sixth grade. Soldotna Middle School, 1 to 3 p.m. This annual event is co-sponsored by Skyview High School National Honor Society and Soldotna Community Schools and is free.
