Ceremony held to remember cancer victims

A special ceremony to honor those who have been touched by cancer will be held at the American Cancer Society Relay for Life held June 1 and 2 at Skyview High School. Candles will be lit in memory of those who have been lost to cancer or in support of those surviving, while volunteers walk or run the track, raising funds for cancer research and Kenai Peninsula patient services.

Luminaria candles can be personalized by donation to the American Cancer Society. For more information, call 262-3506.

Scholarships offered by KPBA

The Kenai Peninsula Builders Association will award up to three $2,000 scholarships to Kenai Peninsula Borough School District students graduating in 2001 and 2002. Applicants must be pursuing a building-related career and plan to attend an Alaska community college, university of vocational school. For more information, call 283-8071.
